Американская компания Millenniata разработала технологию, которая позволяет создавать DVD-диски, данные на которых будут храниться тысячи лет.
Идея заключается в замене слоя органического пластика, на который записываются данные, на слой из неорганического материала. Последний, по словам исследователей, не подвержен так называемой деградации, в то время как традиционные DVD, созданные на основе органического пластика, могут стать нечитаемыми уже через пять-десять лет, даже если их за это время ни разу не доставали из коробки.
Диск, получивший название M-ARC Disc, практически ничем не отличается от обычного DVD. Для записи информации на новый носитель необходим специальный привод Millennial Writer, а читать диски можно и в обычном DVD-проигрывателе. Первый образец нового носителя будет представлен уже в начале сентября, а стоимость его составит порядка 25-30 долларов, сообщает Российская газета.
